Are Home Workout Apps Effective?

Digital watch with home workout app

Home workout apps have now taken the place of many personal trainers. These apps came into existence in the pandemic. When it was very hard to train with a personal coach or trainer. Because a beginner always looks for a personal interaction with a human. As, it is where you can take value in the exchange of money.

However, as everything in the world evolved, so did the fitness industry. All these apps come with a friendly user experience. And claim to keep everyone muscular from the comfort of home.

But are they really effective for someone who is working out at home?

Why Are Home Workout Apps Waste Of Time?

If you are a beginner who wants to build muscle at a faster pace, which every newbie wants. It is for sure you will install a home workout software and you will regulate your workout session with a home fitness app.

But the problem here is these apps confuse or sometimes even mislead beginners. Where they make a complete workout schedule with loads and loads of exercises.

I have personally used a home workout app. At first glance everything seems to be pretty good. Because in the beginning, we think that doing more and more is good for muscle building.

For example, while using that app I used to do different variations of the same exercise. I remember I did six to seven variations of push – ups. When there were only two to three needed for my chest development.

That only didn’t waste my time but also fatigued my body for the next session. Time is wasted in the sense that doing the same type of exercise from different poses does not benefit muscle growth.

And this is the same pattern I see in each home workout app. These apps mostly lack clarity.

Create Your Own Home Workout Routine

This all happens when we expect too much from a free home workout app. Doing a home workout with only body weight does not build muscles that gym goers have. You should have to create self awareness before using these apps. Instead of investing time in these apps one should make his own workout plan by doing a bit of research.

And I swear it is worth more than these apps. Although it is considered best to hire a personal trainer who himself polishes workout plans for best results. But as I know most do not have the expenses a trainer demands.

For those, I always recommend to select fundamental and basic exercises and stick with them for at least 4 – 6 weeks.

Use Fitness tools Instead

It is not always a bad idea to use tools to enhance results. You can use an exercise tracker, instead of home workout apps. In which you can see whether you are progressing or not.

I personally use a tracker called “Fit Notes”. You can use this or similar to this. You just have to put the weight you are using and the exercise you are performing. And it will make a graph and record your past progress as you move on.
